Wheely Good Green Stuff
Here at Wheely Good Bicycles we try to do our little bit for the environment
by recycling what we can and using bio-friendly cleaners where possible.
Metal
All metal parts that are no longer usable are recycled – frames,
forks, cranksets, cassettes, chains, wire cable and other components.
Components
If we strip a bike as it is no longer usable parts that are reusable
are kept. It is amazing how much we can do with these – especially
older components where you might just need a widget or a gizmo!
Or someone may be on a limited budget and we can sell them a decent second-hand
bit – derailleurs, brake mechanisms, cranks etc.
Bikes
Decent whole bikes that need just a little doing to them to get them
roadworthy get sorted and we sell them via our website or on e-bay – ideal
buys for those on a budget, students and so on.
We have even sold old bikes for customers for a small commission of course!
Paper/card
Any packaging we get is recycled as far as possible – all card,
cardboard, paper and plastic.
Tyres
Our latest venture is to recycle tyres. We have hooked up with www.tyrebelt.co.uk who
use old tyres to make belts. Some of these are quite unique and look
great.
Some tyres are no good for this –such as the really knobbly mtb
tyres so we are seeking another place to get these recycled as we understand
they can be crushed and used in things like cushioning for kids pay areas
and the like.
Cleaning stuff
We use recycled rags (old sheets etc) rather than buying industrial wipes
etc.
And we use eco-friendly bike wash/cleaner to clean bikes down in the
workshop.
